Of all the nightmares that haunt you at night, the least possible shall be one of your friend deleting you from his profile. May be this is because, studies show, people today are least bothered about them being separated from a member of their social circle. Its like I have many friends -”Tu nahi to koi aur sahi”.
Let us understand the present social network as in Orkut. Just try to remember the day you created your profile. It says “Begin by adding new friends”. You add friends from school, college, far and near, etc., etc. based on people you have met before or are in contact with.
Looking at the process of formation of this kind of a network one could easily say that it a network of his own – a personal social network. The terminology used makes clear the origin and purpose of such a network as a personal network to socialize with others.
Thus, Social Networking (SN) websites are personal, customized and task specific.
Now lets move on to a completely different scenario -the Times of India website. It give you all the information in this world. May it be in relevance to you or not (directly of indirectly) but these things happen and are a inseparable part of your life. This is a network that reflects the society – a public social network. It is originated from amongst the public in order to socialize with the rest of the world.
Hence these websites are information oriented and universal.
Now as we have made clear both the terms used in this article let us move on to the next step.
Imagine a mix of these both. Relevant information of a public social network discussed within your personal social network.
Why? is the first question that comes to mind. The answer is because it is necessary for the society to develop. To make a shift from the personal life of an individual to his life as a member of the society. To inspire him and make him understand of the present society and if possible to make him help make situations better.
Accepting the challenge we(me, babban and ashutosh) are ready to answer the next question that arises. HOW??

This forms the working brief of our Design Project.
As a start-up we will begin by taking only socially implicated events into consideration like blood donation camps, tree plantation campaigns, educational trips, etc. organized by various NGOs that need more participation from amongst the upper and educated parts of society.
This may be just a small step for the change we intend to bring to the society, yet its worth giving a try.
